Preparing a Healthcare Directive for International Use
Healthcare directives are different from many public records because they are usually privately prepared documents that must be signed correctly before apostille processing. Before submission, we can review the execution page for the signer’s signature, witness information, notarial certificate, and other visible preparation details that may affect processing.
If the document has not yet been signed, coordinating the notarization early can help avoid delays—especially when the signer is hospitalized, living in an assisted-living facility, or preparing to travel abroad. Any instructions provided by the foreign hospital, attorney, consulate, or healthcare institution should be included with your request so the document can be reviewed with its intended use in mind.
We also provide certified English-to-Spanish and Spanish-to-English translations. This service can be coordinated with the apostille order when healthcare instructions need to be understood by Spanish- or English-speaking recipients.
When time is important, expedited processing may be available in as little as 1–2 business days after we receive a properly prepared healthcare directive. We can arrange tracked FedEx delivery to the signer, an authorized relative, attorney, hospital, care facility, or international recipient.
